Fees, Rebates and Cancellation Policy

Fees.

As a private practice Wavelength Clinical Psychology charges for sessions and is not able to bulk bill clients, however understanding that therapy can be expensive, fees are set at less than the Australian Psychological Society’s National Schedule of Recommended Fees. Check the headings below to see Wavelength Clinical Psychology’s fees as well as some possible rebates that you may be eligible for.

  • A standard 50-minute session at Wavelength Clinical Psychology is set at $260.

There may be times when a longer 90 minute sessions is needed such as for Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). 90 minute sessions are charged at $310

  • You may be eligible for a medicare rebate of $136.35 per session for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.

To access this rebate you will need to book an appointment with your GP to discuss a referral to see a psychologist via a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). At the time of booking with your GP be sure to let them know the purpose of the appointment.

To start with, your GP will refer you for up to 6 sessions, then if you need more, your psychologist will provide a letter to your doctor to support your request for a further 4 sessions.

  • If you have private health insurance you may be eligible for a rebate from your insurance provider. Since there are many different levels of cover and many different providers you’ll need to check your personal cover with your provider first if you intend to make a claim.

  • I understand that for many people the very reason that led them to seek psychological therapy, also makes it difficult to attend appointments sometimes. It’s also true that therapy is most effective when it is consistent and seen as valuable by clients. When there are no consequences for missing a session, it’s only natural that when a stressor arises, the therapy session is more likely to be cancelled. Over time this devalues the therapy, and it becomes less effective. In addition; when appointments are cancelled with insufficient notice another client may be unable to utilise that time. Because of these reasons, Wavelength Clinical Psychology charges for late cancellations and missed appointments.

I strive to model and create a safe space with clear boundaries based on mutual respect. Understanding that emergencies do happen, my late cancellations are charged according to the following structure.
    - Cancellation with less than two hours notice: full session fee
    - Cancellation on the day of the appointment: 50% of full session fee
    - Cancellation with less than 24 hours: $50

Please note that cancellation fees cannot be claimed under Medicare or private health insurance and you will be responsible for the full amount.

To help you remember your appointment Wavelength Clinical Psychology offers an SMS reminder service, however it is still your responsibility to keep track of and attend scheduled appointments. The cancellation applies even if for some reason you do not get an SMS reminder.
